post August is On Its Way!

July 29th, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christina @ 11:08 am

Success is all we can wish for at Southern Hospitality and this past weekend, our wish came true!

On Friday, we had 3 amazing guest bartenders accompanied by the musical stylings of DJ Prince.  The night was a huge hit!  A lot of fun was had by all of the guest bartenders as well as the people who attended. Don’t forget, you too can be a guest bartender at Southern Hospitality.  All you need to do is call us at 212-249-1001, set a date, and bring 10 of your friends along for the ride!

On Sunday, Southern Hospitality closed the restaurant for a private party hosted by the TONY Award winning musical, Memphis and the newest site for the best deals on rental cars, Zipcar! The cast and Southern Hospitality employees alike enjoyed good food, drinks, and most of all good company! We cannot wait to have Memphis and Zipcar back here in the future!

Speaking of the future, Southern Hospitality is already preparing for the jam-packed week that lies ahead for the first week of August! On August 3rd from 6-9PM, Southern Hospitality presents a night of Wii golf hosted by our friends at badchicken.net. Try out the chicken stick with Tiger Woods PGA Tour for Wii to improve your swing and enjoy happy hour specials while you do it! Then, on Saturday, August 7th at 10PM, be sure to tune into UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen and Hughes vs. Almeida here at Southern Hospitality on any of our 14 HD TVs and our huge projection screen! General admission is $20 and the premium 3 hour open bar package is $50 per person.  If you’re into UFC, Southern Hospitality is definitely the place to be if you want to be a part of the action for ALL UFC fights.

post Mid-Summer Fun at Southern Hospitality!

July 21st, 2010

Filed under: Events at Southern Hospitality — Christina @ 1:37 pm

I love mid-summer at Southern Hospitality! Not only do I get to stay cool in an air conditioned restaurant, but I get to attend awesome events while doing it! Last week, we had our “Mid-Summer Night’s Beer Tasting” where attendees got to sample 7 different selections from Magic Hat, Chimay, and Sierra Nevada. Our guests also got to participate in different raffles and win various prizes, like an $100 bar tab! Definitely keep your eyes open because there will be another beer tasting coming your way in the near future.

I don’t know about you, but nothing says mid-summer like a Friday night dance party! Come join us this Friday, July 23rd as we dance the night away with guest DJ, DJ Prince! Bring all your friends to experience good food, drinks, and entertainment with a Southern twist!

Also on our mid-summer agenda, the TONY Award Winner for Best Musical, Memphis, will be holding a private event at Southern Hospitality this Sunday! What better way to celebrate the true meaning behind this restaurant than to bring it back to its original roots…Memphis, Tennessee!

As one of New York City’s leading UFC bars, Southern Hospitality Presents a UFC 117 Viewing Party on Saturday, August 7th! Be a part of the action and come to Southern Hospitality to watch Silva vs. Sonnen and Hughes vs. Almeida duke it out on our 14 HDTVs & our HUGE Projection Screen! General admission is $20, but be sure to take advantage of our $50, 3 hour premium open bar package.

post The Weekend is Almost Here!

I love the weeks that start out amazing and then end on an even higher note. This week, we had our very first Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour on Monday, followed by a night of our infamous trivia…it was a huge success! Lots of New York City teachers showed up to celebrate their last day of school and the beginning of summer…we cannot wait to plan another event like this one!

This upcoming weekend is sure to be a busy, but exciting one here at Southern Hospitality! From Friday until Sunday, you can come to Southern Hospitality to watch the Wimbledon 2010 finals and enjoy our $10 Pitchers of Coors & Miller and our $6 Frozen Drinks! What would complete this equation for the ultimate tennis viewing experience? Wii Tennis! When you come in to watch the Wimbledon finals, you are also able to suit up and get on the court (virtually speaking) and play tennis matches on our very own Wii! Tennis isn’t the only sport anticipated to bring the excitement this weekend…on Saturday July 3, starting at 8PM, get ready to fight for the heavyweight championship with UFC 116: Lesnar versus Carwin. General admission is $20 and for just $50 you can purchase a VIP premium open bar between the hours of 10PM and 1AM! This is not a fight you want to miss, so think of us if you’re looking for a fun, friendly, and delicious place to watch the fight!

OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE, that Southern Hospitality is having amazing July 4th specials! If you’re looking for a place to celebrate the birth of the United States of America, look no further. This Sunday, Southern Hospitality is offering $2 drafts all day long and $4 “you call its” during the fireworks show! Even if you’re planning on staying in or hosting a party this July 4th, you can still celebrate with Southern Hospitality because we offer catering services too! Call in your order by Friday, July 2 and receive 10% off your order! Ah, freedom never felt so good!

post Promises, Promises Martini Tour and the World Cup!

June 23rd, 2010

Even though it’s already been a week and a half since the TONY Awards, I still can’t stop thinking about Sean Hayes and how he hosted the TONY’s with ease and a lot of humor. Ironically, he himself was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for the newest Broadway revival of Promises, Promises. Although he didn’t win the award, he certainly won a place in my heart. How could you not fall in love with such a funny and talented man? Speaking of talent, Kristin Chenoweth stars alongside Sean Hayes to complete a perfect Broadway experience for any lucky audience member. To kick off the exciting journey of this revival, Promises, Promises is promoting “Marge’s Martini Tour,” in which people are able to visit a series of restaurants around New York City to sample cocktails that were inspired by the show. It’s your lucky day New Yorkers because Southern Hospitality is a participating restaurant! From now until August, you can come to Southern Hospitality to sample the “Our Little Secret Martini.” The first ten people to complete the entire tour of restaurants and sample all of the show inspired cocktails will receive 2 tickets to see Promises, Promises along with a playbill signed by the cast! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to sample a delicious cocktail AND be given the chance to see Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises!

In other Southern Hospitality news, the World Cup is getting more and more exciting every day! Just today, we celebrated the win of the USA soccer team against Algeria! The damage to my ear drums from the eruption of cheers was well worth it…we can’t wait for the big game on Saturday! Don’t forget that Southern Hospitality is the best restaurant and bar in NYC to watch all of the World Cup games. Up until the very end of the tournament we are offering $3 drafts, $6 well drinks, and $6 frozen drinks…come on over and enjoy the most delicious BBQ on the Upper East Side while watching all of the soccer excitement happen on any of our 14 HD TVs!

post Father’s Day and School’s Out for Summer!

June 16th, 2010

Filed under: Events at Southern Hospitality — Christina @ 11:37 am

Even though the weather isn’t screaming “Summer!” on this particular day, it is in fact June. I looked at my calendar a couple of days ago for the first time since school ended and realized that the end of June was already quickly approaching. I couldn’t and still cannot believe that Father’s Day AND “the last day of school” are right around the corner! Two separate days that would never exist without the guidance and support of two very important groups of people: Fathers and Teachers. You can even argue that fathers are also teachers and teachers are also fathers…or mothers…any way you look at it, these two groups of people are appreciated throughout the year, but it is especially at this time in June where we make a day out of it! Luckily, Southern Hospitality is hosting events for both Fathers and Teachers! On Sunday, June 20th 2010 at 4PM Southern Hospitality presents a Father’s Day celebration featuring BBQ & Hops for Pops! Come in and order the King Platter (BBQ Chicken, Baby Back Ribs, St. Louis Style Ribs, 2 Sides & Biscuit) and a Complimentary Domestic Draft for Dad all for just $20! How could a Father possibly ask for more? Attention Teachers! Get ready to take some notes because only one short week later, Southern Hospitality is hosting a Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour! Stop by at 3:30PM on Monday, June 28th 2010 for some ABC Cocktails (A-Appletinis, B-Beer Pitchers, C-Cosmopolitans) then stick around for Monday Night Trivia and put everything you’ve learned (and taught!) to the ultimate test! I don’t know about you, but I sure am thankful for Fathers and Teachers!
